A superb sepia tinted photo from c1900 to 1910 of a cafe street frontage in France. I've no idea where it is, it could be Paris or a large town. There are two well dressed ladies with parasols, and a man, sitting outside at one table on the cobbled pavement. At another are three men and a little boy, standing in the background are two staff of the cafe bar, and a young lad. Next door, probably part of the same establishment, is a coiffure (hairdresser) with two groups of people standing outside. The ladies have a tiny dog. Above the salon there is a sign saying Archier, and in the centre, Arrivage d'huitres tous les samedis - oysters arriving every Saturday. Above the cafe and salon are three windows with a balcony on the middle one. The people on the balcony have been cropped but you can still see the face of a small boy, and in the right hand window, someone is holding a newspaper with the word Journal on it. On the right of the Cafe Bar sign, is an old painted sign, but I can only make out the words cafe, vins and possibly Chez Alise. The window to the right of the door looks like it either has reflections in it, or the remains of a poster. This is a lovely photograph full of life and social history, and very clear, in spite of the fact that it came from a photographic postcard. Note: some products in this range will only show part of the photo due to the format.
